You don’t think twice about taking proper care of the hair on your head. So why put aside the need for a new roof? A home is truly only as good as the roof is, meaning a good roof will result in a delightful home. The big question is, which type of roof will you choose?

Asphalt shingles are the most common type of roof because they’re effective in all environmental conditions. The upfront cost is lower, but be prepared for a quicker replacement period.

Metal roofing can last about sixty years if taken care of properly. Metal can withstand heavy snow, rain, resist high wind, and won’t burn in the case of a house fire. It is very lightweight and can be installed over an existing weight. The only downfall is the noise that will accompany a metal roof during a rainstorm and it might dent from hail.

Slate shingles lasts more than 100 years. Slate is waterproof, won’t burn, and is able to resist mold and fungus. It is very effective in wet climates, but can be expensive and easily broken when stepped on.

Roof tiles can withstand damage from hurricanes, tornadoes, or winds up to 125 miles per hour. These roofs are great in warm, dry climates and may require extra support to bear any weight.

Wood shake shingles are made from split logs. They are known for their durability and aesthetic aging appeal along with being energy efficient. However they do require a higher maintenance and tend to show wear-and-tear easy.
